When Wellness Becomes Work
Share
Are we trying to do too much?
Remember when taking care of yourself meant eating well, getting some exercise, and maybe going to bed on time?
Somewhere along the way, wellness got a little more complicated.
Now there's a morning routine, an evening routine, a supplement routine, a skincare routine, a fitness routine, a mindfulness practice, a sleep tracker, and an app to tell you how well you're doing at all of it.
And that's before you've even started your actual day.
Don't get me wrong. I love that we're becoming more aware of our health, more curious about ingredients, and more intentional about our wellbeing.
But sometimes I wonder: When did taking care of ourselves become so much work?
When Self-Care Becomes Another To-Do List
There's actually a name for this feeling: wellness overwhelm.
It's when the sheer number of things we feel we should be doing for our health and wellbeing starts creating stress of its own.
Drink more water. Get more steps. Eat more protein. Meditate. Journal. Stretch. Sleep eight hours. Reduce screen time.
And somehow, make time for everything else life demands.
Even rest has become something we measure, track, and try to optimize.
The irony? Sometimes the pursuit of wellness leaves us feeling more overwhelmed than we did before.
We feel guilty about the workout we missed, the supplements we forgot, or the meditation streak we broke.
Self-care was supposed to make us feel better, not give us another reason to feel behind.

Maybe More Isn't Always Better
What if simplifying our wellness routine is actually a step in the right direction?
Instead of constantly adding new habits, perhaps we could start by asking a few simple questions.
What do I really need? Not every wellness trend needs to become part of our lives. Start with the things that genuinely matter to your health and how you feel.
What already works for me? Sometimes the most sustainable habits are the ones that fit naturally into our existing routines. A short walk after lunch. A few quiet moments during our evening skincare. Small things that don't require a complete lifestyle overhaul.
What can I let go of? Not every moment needs to be optimized. It's okay to take a walk without counting the steps, enjoy a meal without analyzing it, or simply rest without trying to be productive.
Because wellness should support the life we're living, not become another job we're trying to excel at.
A Little Less Pressure. A Little More Living.
This thinking is actually very close to why I started Efpy.
I kept coming back to a simple question: What if we could make some of the everyday rituals we already have do a little more for us?
That became the inspiration behind our Micro-Dose Method™, bringing functional wellness ingredients into something as familiar as applying lip balm.

It's a small part of a much bigger approach to wellbeing. One that doesn't always require adding something new to an already full day.
Of course, good nutrition, movement, sleep, and taking care of our mental health still matter. This isn't about doing away with the things that support us.
It's about remembering why we started caring about wellness in the first place.
To feel better. Live better. Have more energy for the people and things we love.
Not to become experts at managing wellness routines.
Maybe the best wellness routine isn't the most impressive one. It's the one that actually works for your life.
And hopefully, leaves you with a little more time to enjoy it.
With love,
